The Green Fields of France. Interpretata de “The Clancy Brothers”.

and i can’t help but wonder oh willy mcbride
do all those who lie here know why they died
> did you really believe them when they told you the cause
did you really believe that this war would end wars
well the suffering, the sorrow, the glory, the shame
> the killing and dying it was all done in vain
oh willy mcbride it all happened again
and again, and again, and again, and again

Mai stiu de 3 piese irlandeze despre razboi:

Waltzing Matilda. Tot WW1, frontul din Turcia. Liam Clancy.

They collected the crippled, the wounded, the maimed,
And they sent us back home to Australia.
The armless, the legless, the blind and the insane,
Those proud wounded heroes of Suvla.
And when our ship pulled into Circular Quay
> I looked at the place where me legs used to be
> And thanked Christ there was no one there waiting for me
To grieve, to mourn and to pity.
But the Band played Waltzing Matilda
As they carried us down the gangway,
But nobody cheered, they just stood and stared,
Then they turned all their faces away.

Barret’s Privateers. Un shanty original, despre luptele maritime in Age of Sail.

The Antelope shook and pitched on her side
How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now
Barrett was smashed like a bowl of eggs
And the main truck carried off both me legs

Mrs Mcgrath Tot despre luptele maritime.

Now were ye drunk or were ye blind
When ye left yer two fine legs behind?

A man of culture.

O favorita d’ea mea, tot despre razboi intr-un fel:

I salute you sir! :cowboy_hat_face:

E bun Stan Rogers.
E despre cautatul celebrului Northwest Passage.
