Talked to the lawyers about PATENTS clause. I can’t legally advise you but here’s three points to consider if you’re worried about React.
- Facebook gets sued by patent trolls every month for ridiculous sums of money.
- Facebook, to the date, has never yet used software patents offensively. Only in defence against patent lawsuits.
- If you don’t intend to use software patents offensively, you have nothing to worry about at all.
- Oh, and if you didn’t realize, that clause is limited to patent lawsuits. It has nothing to do with whether you “compete” with Facebook.
- And don’t forget the last year’s update. You keep the protection given by grant if FB sues you first.
